Get a wild hair now and then to do some abstract shots with whatever is around me. Here is the results.

1100 rez pictures, so dialupers beware! Well they were, before photobucket says NO you CAN HAVE already resized pictures that big! Buggers...anyway

This one here, I just liked the perspective. not all that much to look at...they get better, stick with me here!

Odd angle at the mess that is my fridgerator door

I think all close up shots of plants look cool, this one not so much, but still interesting, its a vine plant that is tied up to a post.

Now this one I LOVE, great sense of growth and decay all present. Note the dead beneath the living biggrin.gif Symbolic or random? You be the judge.

Dirty blinds. Remind me of a haunted house's stairs or something.

Fake plant or real?

user posted image

btw its real, the name escapes me right now and my wife must be busy as she didn't answer the phone. But it looks very fake and even has little iridescent spots on the topside of the leaf, which show up from this underside shot as dots. If my memory serves me correctly, its a kind of begonia. But my memory doesn't serve me well....

And last but not least, me playing with angles. Not quite abstract really, more random. I just thought it was neat the way the frame plays with the image.

Hope you enjoy, I know out of the many I took these were the neatest. I have more, from long ago, but I'm terrible at organizing my photo's as I just take so freakin many of them.

I think Danbah would give better professional advice.
But in my personal opinion, the light is too sharp. Try taking some outdoor photos or some indoors with the blinds up.
You make me want to go out and buy my spiffy awesome camera. =(

You need to change the lighting, I like hwo you're trying out for different angles but the lighting must change. Good job so far though.

The one that says 'cropped' looks pretty cool. I quite like it! =D

You might play around with photoshop or the GIMP a bit and see what effects you can achieve. Changing the color balances of certain areas can really enhance an abstract photo's 'feel.'

I don't believe in photoshopping photography. TO me its about capturing a shot or moment, not creating one.

I agree with Sai. In some of the pictures, the light is too sharp that it hurts my eyes.

Your hair looks funkeh o:

Well wow.
Those pictures are better than anything I could even attempt sweatdrop.gif

My favorite one was the refigerator door
I like how you mess with the lighting and the angles
It's amazing to see how a different perspective can make the image so artistic

Lol sometimes I wonder how Photography is art, and this is why. YOu can capture so many things at different angles so that is shows something intriguing. Like your plant one with life and death in it. Very cool.

BTW: You look like Jesus. O.o

I think that's because the flash is too close to the subject - I don't think the lighting in the room affects that. Notice how pretty much all the parts in focus aren't overexposed - that flash should adjust itself to light that part of the image - anything closer receives stronger light.

Something to experiment with - try placing a tissue, some layers of tracing paper or something like that over the flash - it should soften it and reduce shadows a bit as well. It can help with portraits too. If you don't want overexposed areas, place the camera further away and zoom in. Downside to that is that you can't get the same extreme angles, and you will probably lose the shallow depth of field. Still, some ideas to play around with.

My favorite is the dart board one. It has good depth and texture.
