I think they are really good though put a little more effort into the background, great job with the stock though

i like the colored one better.. the red/blk one is too blurry and ugly and hardcore super CnC'ers will have loads of fun with that one.. oh well

lol I'm still trying to figure out how to make things un-bland. I don't exactly know any ways or things to do in a sig that makes it come to life or look like something's happening. and I'm usually terrible at lighting and font choices... but it's a work in progress and everyone has to start at the bottom just like me. so if any experienced graphic designers have any tips or something go ahead and PM me! I appreciate it! (and Sakon and Ukon, you do give great crit's. sometimes people don't want to hear it but if people listen that's how they improve. thanks for all of the crit you've given me)

I don't remember if I told you about the tutorials already, but check some of them out on Deviant Art and AnimeRenders... They really help.

5 Traits of Light

What you should try and do is except of trying to blend your images with color, trying blending them in with brushes. Since it may just be me, but the sigs look like you used a couple brushes, slapped that render on there, did a couple glowing lines, added text, all under a Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer.

Try and focus your background to be more intertwined with your image, not just to have a random background with an image, the glowing lines are pretty cool I might add, but they seem to be more distracting than cool. With your current sig (the Rukia one) that's how you should be using it, there (in the Death Note sigs) it looks like a giant tesla coil in a sense.

Plus, it looks like the render is kinda small for the sig size, either make the entire canvas smaller, or make the render bigger: since the render looks out of place, and not big enough.

Lastly, try and use more than one color in your sigs, it'll help dish away from the monotone of just one color, use Color Balances and Gradient Maps, try and think with me here but: You know those little white boxs near the Color Balances on the bottom right? Those can be used to put other filters in, like Clouds. By using the Clouds filter on your Color Balance, it'll put the color (say red) in certain places, allowing you to fill in the other parts with another color (say green), see what I mean?

You have lots of potential, I'm not gonna lie, just try and roam around Photoshop (if that's what you're using) and see what you can accomplish by just fiddling with the tools, you'd be surprised. ^^

Thanks Amatsu, I do use photoshop and that is one of the best crit's i've ever gotten from anyone and I'll try to apply it to the way I do things. One problem I have is I don't have an internet connection at my house, just on my phone, so I have to go to IBF's house when I want to update my gallery or something like that. I also have very few brushes, just mainly the stock brushes that come with photoshop and it's really hard for me to get new brushes, fonts, renders, etc.. but I'll try to snag some more when I go over there next time. Thank you!

I agree with Amatasu. Although if you would have done one sig like this it still would have been good. The brushes and resolution of the picture is good and the glowing effect is nice. I like the brilliance one the most, mainly because that's my favorite word out of those you used and my favorite colors are purple and black.

actually both of those stock images are renders I got off of planetrenders.com. I'm actually really tired of using other people's renders and I'm going to start cutting them out my self. I rendered that letter "L" on the L sig myself though. Thanks for the comments!

The first thing I notice when I look at this piece is that black strip. It's cut badly and it cuts off everything going that way... Rest looks fine.

Yeah I didn't like that black strip either but it was part of the render. I guess I could have overlayed it or smudged it a bit to make it not so noticeable but oh well..

Your biggest issue is text. Look up some tutorials on text placement, and font usage.

thanks for the comments, I like the angel one too. The Ed actually took a while and it isn't a filter, I see what you are saying though. I used a lot of smudging, photo filters, brushes, a C4D and some gradient maps. I was going for a fire/heat wave look... here's the stock.

Are those... sprites?

They do look like sprites. xD Kyoui, if you keep resizing your images to that size you can make some pretty good sprite sigs. Or you could just use regular sprites, they are easier to work with because of the size, and the mass of the sig will be smaller and you don't have to fill up as much stuff.

I ought to try to make some sprite sigs. I remember the sprite sig IBF made of roxas, that one was cool! I'mma do it

My Megaman sig was cooler than my Roxas sig.

There's not much to it, you got a good colouring down for it though. The random brushes, look just that random... I see you find that type of brushing as cool as I do. xD The two sides of the sig are very contrast-y. Black meets white without any real fading between the two..

Well both sigs look pretty good. The TWEWY sig is too over sharpened in the background but I like the lighting. As for the fighting game theme sig you made, I see no problems with it. Keep up the good work though!

Well kyoui, It seems to me like the majority of your pieces are, more or less, lacking flow. You have some cool effects your working with, and it looks pretty good, but you have no flow to make those effects work well in your sigs. Your text isnt too bad, you have an okay handle on placement already. Really if you can conquer your issue with flow, blending, and business in your sigs, then I see no reason why you cant win SOTW. Keep up the great work! =)
