yeah, decided to make a new avatar and sig, matching this time...sort of.
Both original pics. The avatar was a vector piece I did, and the pic in the sig can be found in wallpaper format here in my gallery (art and photography) or at my DA account.

What does everyone think?

*note*
The matte colour for the avatar is set for the regular KAF background, which is why it looks dodgy here.

it was actually entirely font based. Some of the work that inspired me was from here so I set about finding some ways of creating similar styles. I've been checking out more fonts recently, so decided that was a good way of getting vector based graphics the way I want them.

I wanted to work in a colour for each image of the gif. Since the photo was black and white, I thought the colours of the Union Jack were appropriate. I might edit it someday, but it'll do for now. There are a few other images I want to add to the animation, so perhaps when I do that, I'll get around to tidying the Little Britain one up.

that font is Phoenix Sans. It's the first time I used it, but I quite like it now. The border is supposed to represent (at least one half of) the thick borders commonly seen on scrolls. I added a slight texture, but didn't it too dominant so cut it back a lot.

Also, I just added the little tabs under my userbar. These little guys:

just toying around with some gradient maps, subtle colours and other gradients which I often tend to overlook. I try to always use layer masks in combination with adjustment layers. It give a whole new level of control.

Ryuji: thanks man smile.gif Yeah, I love the game. Some nice little references to Viewtiful Joe hidden away (another of my favourite games) It's a little more lighthearted than I was expecting, but a great adventure. Only thing I disliked was some of a later digging stages. The controls were awful, and the water technique never worked for me there. Much frustration... Anyway, the art galleries unlocked in the game are fantastic. Lots of inspiration there. I wish more games had features like that.

Kan: thanks biggrin.gif Yeah, I try to make each sig of mine vastly different to the previous. I don't like to think I have one style that I'll confine myself too.

depth of field wink.gif In photography, if you have so much out of focus, the object you want to focus will hardly ever be completely in focus. At least on small objects anyway.

I was going for a similar thing here, to give it a more natural look.

OK, the story behind these is pretty weird. I was chatting to Kan earlier today, and we started talking about the bakafu (a.k.a bakufu) - which was basically a military government in early Japan.

I think she said a friend of hers asked if it was a martial art for idiots (you probably all know what 'baka' means, right?) We both had a laugh at this, and me being at work in a creative mood thought to create some corny graphics about this.

So I whipped these up after getting home. They're not meant to be all that good, and I chose some of the worst images you could possibly find. But that's what is meant to make them amusing.

I'm thinking a wallpaper is in order too...

So, unleash your inner baka, and sign up for a class today! *wa-chao*
