I just got GIMP about two days ago and I've been fiddling around with it. Now, I know I shouldn't really have a gallery, because I'm just a beginner and my stuff isn't really any good, but I figured some contructive criticism would be good for developing techniques and getting better at this. Just one request...dun laugh. hey.gif

They're quite good for a beginner. The last one though seems a little cluttered. Also, on the first one, you might to move the "Gravity of Love" text up a bit. It'll looked more intune and centered with the other part of the text.

Ah, I didn't notice that. And I agree...the last one is cluttered. >_<;; Thanks for the advice, though. I made another set. It's...plain. I kinda like it though. Even though it's just...plain and boring and not very good. mellow.gif

Work on the blending of the stock and typography with thr bg. And try not to clutter them with words. They're good otherwise.

I think they look really good for a beginner. happy.gif Only advise I'll give you is to pitch up the contrasts on the stocks from time to time, especially if the bg has rather strong colors.

More brushing = Gives a chance to create depth and flow.

I gotta say, Moony...you're getting quite better with the backdrops, but your text needs a lot of work be done to them. On some of them, try making the text smaller, or at least add transparency to them so they'll blend in with the background.

Getting better, however! ^^

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering about the text on #3, it's Latin. I thought it was perfect for a Silas & Aringarosa avatar, considering the meaning. "Peccavi" means "I have sinned", and likewise, "Peccavisti" means "You have sinned". Sankyuu, Law & Order.

Anyway, some of my newer stuff. I've been experimenting with some blending more recently, as well as getting back to trying some C4Ds:

My family just switched to Verizon FiOS, so I get the FUNimation channel... and thus was properly introduced to Shoujo Kakumei Utena. And thus began my Miki obsession. <3

I went for a little bit of a different technique with this one, going back to working with some C4Ds and filters. I used the "Multiply" layer option, which I normally stay away from for some reason, and found I quite liked the effect. I used various "Distort" filters to try and create a sense of flow... but I'm not sure if I got it down pat. It's probably one of my best attempts, though. Not sure about the text, either. Text is the great equalizer as far as I'm concerned. :/
