It is a world where ships are not confined to the sea and instead can roam the land or the sky. Pirates and bandits roam these places between the the cities, towns and villages and wait for the perfect bounty to come. Some people are treasure hunters, traveling the land to find the secrets hidden in the ruins. And some, are just trying to get by in life the best way they can.

The world:

The world is called Desperia and is split into 4 parts. The kingdom, the republic, forbidden grounds and other. The forbidden grounds aren't really forbidden, they're just seen as dangerous or different. People still live in the forbidden grounds, though these people do really 'fit in' when they go to the republic or the kingdom. The forbidden ground itself is broken into 4 places as well. There are the wastelands where little or no people live. The frozen peaks, where most water turns to ice in a instant. The are the the villages, towns and cities where people generally practice the dark arts and whatnot, these places are friendly at times but can be slightly creepy. And finally, the shadowlands, where demons and creatures unknown are supposed to live. No one has been there, been there and came out at least.

Between the kingdom and the republic there are many towns that are independent. In these towns, travelers of all kind are welcomed no matter what dispute they might of had with either of the two major powers.

Outside all of these are the bandit and thieve towns, where crime is loose but somehow looks like they are ordered these places are popular ports for pirates and are dangerous for almost anyone else (if you aren't experienced). These places are the gambling capitals of the world and take in lots of money from it, though the games are mostly rigged, they have to let someone win big or no one will play anymore. So winning is still a possibility.

The creatures in Desperia are unlike our own, they do have wolves, lions, bears, but they also have trolls, cyclops, plantation that come to life and rarest, most dangerous of all... Dragons. There used to be many more dragons until one decade they started to disappear. Some say they see them in the the see, others say that there underground and some say that theya re so far into the heavens that we can even see them.

Some people in Desperia created unbreakable pacts with the creatures they live with. Many people would become close to the forest dwelling. However there is one group of people only heard in myth to have a pact with the dragons. Many people do not see dragons and people who have heard the myth of the dragon hybrids presume that they are dead or have never even existed.

Some myths however are not simply folklore.

People:

The people or races are many in the world.

Humans: The people who number most in Desperia, they are much like us. But for the sake of character creation, they are also strong and can carry almost any weapon, and can hone certain senses and skills (For those of you thinking buster sword.)

Hybrids: These are people who have made a pact with certain creatures. These people often live side by side with them in there village and as a result have obtained animal traits (Ears, tails, claws, eyes. Don't go overboard) These people are discriminated in some areas, called beast men. They can have above average traits, or below average traits depending on what animal they are a hybrid of. Strength, speed, hearing etc.

Elves: Inconsistent in lifespan and and height an elf can grow as tall as 7 feet to 5 feet. There life spans average at 200 but some live up to human age, others live longer than the rest. Due to this they reproduce slowly.

Dwarves: Short, this race makes up for it with their incredible strength and agility with heavy weapons (Other than that, they're pretty slow.) They have only slighty above human life span.

Goblins: The smartest ones of all, they have shorter life spans that humans, are weaker but make up for it by using battle suits to make them more dangerous.

Types of people:

This is concerning what you could be occupation wise.

Mercenary: Mercenaries and masters of the blade, they are soldiers, knights, guards or blade technicians who lend there skills for a price. Mercenaries are generally people who have mastered the use of a sword but don't fit into a specific category of knight, brute, solider etc. These people have above average strength, almost superhuman to some.

Pirate/thief/bandit: These occupations are purely meant for profit, these people steal to there hearts content. Pirates work on ships and are most popular as the main mode of transport is by ship, they do not have to stay with a crew but it helps to be loyal, they are masters with a one handed sword, they are often found close to the sea or ports. Thieves are drifters stealing in every form and are often treated like scum even if the intentions are good, they have great mastery in stealth and speed and work well with daggers. Bandits are outlaws and generally use heavy weapons to intimidate there enemies as well as deliver devastating blows, very similar to freelancers they have tremendous strength, they tend to roam the wastelands.

Spellcaster: People who use magic. There are many kinds of spellcasters out there and each have there specialty. Basic mages, have some knowledge of different types of magic but is not in any specific category. Elemental mages are ones who know only one element (You can know more than one, but your knowledge will be limited for the magics you use). Warlocks summon demons with the price of blood and have a pact made with them, they are seen as evil but it doesn't necessarily have to be true. Necromancers, summon the dead to fight for them, similar to Warlocks but necromancers control mindless corpses. The rest are healers blah blah, you can make up your own, just make sure it's not godmodding.

Technomaster: People in this category are masters at engineering and use battle suits to fight. Goblins are mainly Technomasters but people who have studied enough can very well be as good as any goblin.

Simple...

republic- who are you where do you fit

Kingdom- same

Other- bandit kings? pirate alliances?

Locations:

Central continent: Home to the Kingdom. These places are surrounded by forest and wildlife.

Eastern continent: is actually connected to the central continent but is so big and barren that they'd rather not associate themselves with it. This place is home to the wastelands and part of the Republic where the dark towns are (The places where they use dark magic).

Southern continent: Connected to the western continent these places are home to the undiscovered shadowlands

Northern continent: Home to the frozen peaks and is not connected to the other 3 continents. he frozen peaks are much like the shadowlands, undiscovered and dangerous.

Western sea: Home to a small cluster of islands called the Broken isles. The western continent is further from there however is smaller than the other continents and so far has not been walked upon.

The floating islands: Scattered around the world there are islands that not many people can see, so far most are in the western sea around the Broken isles. These places are popular ports for sky pirates and or people operating a flying machine of some sort. They are often clean and the people there seem happy.

Clan Villages: Scattered around the land are villages of where certain hybrids originated. Though some have left for large cities most stayed and protected there ways.

Main cities:

Cestia: The capital of the kingdom, the people there are mainly human and live a rich life, though there are peasants, they are not usually seen. The city is known for it's cleanliness and snobby people. Located in the central west.

Aldona: The capital of the republic, humans are still the majority but only but a fraction, many different kinds of people live here. Located in the central east.

The highlands: Located on a large floating island between the northern and central continents, in order to reach it, you must walk up the staircase coming from a tiny island the size of a small town bellow it. This is where the elves live, there are not many (if not any) other kinds of being other than elves living there.

Crook island: The gamblers capital. Located in an island between the central and southern continent. A city for all kind of criminal, pirates, thieves, outlaws. Be careful here, they rig there games.

New graveyard: A City or town on the edge of the south eastern wastelands. not much is known about what kind of people live there, just that the main sorcery taught is Necromancy and demonology (warlocks).

Cape twin: A set of islands on the western sea dedicated to piracy and treasure hunting, each island has a specialty.

The commune: A small island located somewhere in the northwest almost unheard of except to pirates. This is where all pirates discuss upon treaties and the pirate code or law.

The burrow: a large town inside the wastelands home to outlaws and travelers. There is generally peace here as all fighting will be done outside the city. This place is located in the south central wastelands.

Scrap city: The land of goblins situated in the northern wastes closer to the northern continent. Goblins rule these places, but travelers are welcome. Of all the cities, this is the most technologically advanced place in all of Desperia, though unclean most of it, it is still an interesting place as many things end up here being sold by traveling merchants.

The Junk yard: A large valley of broken down ships and various mechanics. Located in the central wastelands, a true merchant city, the city is built from scrap found around the place and the locals sell anything they find inside the junk, most things are interesting but worthless, but due to the large quantity, junk city might just have the largest metaphorical goldmine in the whole land.

You are a treasure hunter (You don't generally have to start out as one but that's how the story is going.) and you search the land for new treasures and knowledge. Some are doing it for the thrill, some are doing it for knowledge, others just want to get rich.

Your character can know more than one occupation. e.g. Mercenary who knows a bit of magic. But make it believable.

Skills/Abilities:(Something out of the ordinary, above average strength speed, whatever. But make it believable, did it come from training, something else?)

Bio: (Story of you life. Don't have to put much in here if you don't want.)

My character:

Name: Bobo (He goes by Spitfire)

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Alliance: Free

Occupation: Mercenary/thief

Appearance:

Weapons: 3 swords, one long two shorter. The longer of the three is enchanted so that it is almost indestructible, and can cut through any (non-metal) object like a knife through butter.

Skills/Abilities: He has above average strength from being a mercenary, quick hands and mind almost to the point of predicting attacks as well as great foot speed from running from debt collectors, some people mistake him for a hybrid. He also has extraordinarily bad luck.

Bio: Bobo, is a mercenary who has Mastered thievery as well, this is to simply make more money as that is the only thing he pretty much cares about. People call him Spitfire on the count that he has red eyes, an explosive attitude when he gets [censored]ed of and basic knowledge of fire element magic, some attribute him to being dragon-like.

He had learned fire magic after one day stealing a supposedly worthless book from a traveler and found it was a book on the fire element, not having any luck with getting a job at the time he read up a learned it, he picked it up rather quickly.

He wasn't raised normal as he was an orphan and left at a young age, he never knew his parents and were seen as odd to the people living there. Being a mercenary, he makes a decent living and not only that, it also covers the fact he is a thief as well.

He is a well known mercenary in fact on the count that he always get the job done, he only does it his way and that he has incredibly bad luck. He has a climbing debt and is on the run from a number of people until he pays them back, which is one of the reasons he became a thief.

Those who have been around him for a long time can say there is something odd about him, even though he seems normal. Like a spirit lurking inside him.

Name: Sky Vanilla (Hybrid)

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Alliance: Has a few alliances with some pirate crews

Occupation: Theif, sometimes helps pirates

Appearance:

Weapons: One sword, A LOT of daggers, and a very old rusty revolver. Thats all she really needs.

Skills/Abilities: Is swift with increase speed from being a theif, and can climb tall buildings pretty fast from spending time on ships with long wooden poles, and with help from her tail. Her strength is weak though. She can also understand animals and their emotions more than anyone else. This is because of ehr strong connection with Kiki.

Bio: Sky Vanilla is playful and childish. She loves the thrill of adventure. She became a theif because early in her life, her family had run out of gold, so Sky decided to pick pocket a few passers by.
Now she knows a few pirate crews to help her on her journeys in return for her helping them, (as long aas they pay her a lot of gold, of course) who have taught her new skills and are like family to her.
When she was about 10, she met a stray brown cat in the streets. Like any typical 10 year old girl, she declared it was now hers and took it home. She named it Kiki, and it goes with her practically everywhere.
Although she may seem immature, Sky is quite clever.
On one of a fingers, she has a retractable claw, which is pretty handy for slashing peoples purses open. She can run very fast, can climb tall bulding fast, but she has weak strength.

Gender: Female

Alliance: Free

Occupation: Mercenary/Pirate

Appearance: She's average in height with shoulder blade length brown hair that she keeps tied in a loose and low ponytail. Her long bangs slightly cover her eyes that are two-toned
meaning she has one green eye and one blue eye. Slender but, with gentle defined muscles.
She prefers masculine clothes looser shirts and tighter pants. She always wears brown flat heeled knee high boots with a good a amount of buckles here and there.

Weapons: One straight sword with a lotus flower design on it's hilt. The case itself is black and white.

Skills: She's a master swordswoman and a skilled martial artist. She knows how to throw her weight around in a fight. Her agilty and speed is above average but because that her strength is just average.


Bio: Maxs' family background is unknown but, she claims she grew up around other mercenaries who lived by the sword. Her personality borders along the lines of bored, laidback and eternally cranky. She generally doesn't like big groups of people they make her uneasy.
Max works with pirates for the only purpose that she doesn't like to stay in one place for to long. She gets restless easily because of that she doesn't stay on one ship consistently. She prefers to work with the pirates who set sail on the oceans.
She likes a good adventure and a good fight. She rarely though picks fights others pick the fights with her because she's so laidback. She's also fairly good natured towards people who are the same towards her.

Avrailis Elthoir (Elf)

Age: 19 (she's a youngin)

Gender: Female

Alliance: Formerly Kingdom, but now mostly free.

Occupation: Pirate who knows some magic. Sticks with her ship.

Appearance: Tall (6'2"), long, blonde hair, curvy but not ridiculous, kind of average as far as being pretty goes.

Weapons: Various. Between her training when she still lived in the castle and her travels, she has become skilled with (though not mastered) quite a few weapons, though her preferred weapons are throwing knives and a one-and-a-half hand sword.

Skills/Abilities: She has the ability to heal at an extremely accelerated rate.

Bio: Avrailis is young by both human and elf standards alike. She was raised in the kingdom, but decided to leave once she was old enough to get by on her own. She still holds a place for the Kingdom in her loyalties, but she's mostly a free agent. She now runs with the Pirates, actually owning her own ship, and it's her "baby". She'll dispatch anyone who threatens her pride or her ship.

I rushed it at first so I couldn't finish it properly. You can edit you characters as much as you want as long as it doesn't affect the story after you post.

Also. I forget to tell you all, but you can have more than one character if you want.

I edited the locations and added main cities into it. So check those out.

Anything you want to add to the world you can. For example: Certain animals can talk to humans, if you want to put that in. That's all I can think of actually.

I'll start soon and if you haven't posted, you can do all the editing you want to your character and then post. And add a new one if you want.

If you have any questions... Do not hesitate to ask, because I feel like I've forgotten something.
