Is the anime gonna be a REAL anime from Japan, or a stupid american wannabe?

The company producing the anime has not been announced.

But there are good American shows drawn to Japanese style. Why should it matter? I love that you capitalized Japan but not American. =/

Oh no! Our sacred institution that is Japanese animated cartoons is being threatened by those big-eyed baka gaijin! Hurry! We must make snarky and insulting comments to such a travesty! :V

They did it with Halo, they did it with Batman, they did it with the Matrix. Hell, even the Powerpuff Girls have an anime now. I''m confused as to how this results in anything more than a "Huh. I wonder if they're ever going to make a third season of Big O?"

It always goes back to the O.

Uhhh... NK, I think it's more like, 'What the hell Japan?!'

I know that Japan loves vampires, but... they even like TWILIGHT?! What happened to good ol' Hellsing?

Don't get confused. What they have in Twilight aren't real vampires. They're cheap knock-offs who give legit vampires a bad name. .-.

Riiiiight... If you're trying to make the argument about "real vampires" then you're treading on testy territory. The general concept your average individual has of vampires is more closely tied to Hollywood than anything else, and I can bet half of the people who try and make the distinction between Meyer's version and the "true" version of these mythological beasties will come up with something synonymous with Anne Rice or Bram Stoker. You'll still be wrong, you'll just think you're right.

Alucard from Hellsing wasn't anything like a "real vampire", and neither was Saya in the Blood: The Last Vampire movie (or the monsters). D from Vampire Hunter D and the creatures he battled against wouldn't match up with the Eastern European myths of lore either. And don't get me started on Trinity Blood. An artist has this little thing called imagination that lets them, oh I dunno, create things based on a concept, expand upon them and make them how they see fit. If you start whining about Meyer not making Vamps as "they should be," realize Lestat from Interview with a Vampire and all your favorite animu creations aren't ANYTHING LIKE VAMPIRES.

Digressions aside, really, this is no different than anything else Japan has done once a large amount of popularity and its source land in their laps. I wasn't a fan of the Animatrix, but the concept of multiple artists with different stories making a movie is always cool. Even Iron Man and Wolverine are getting a Japanese series now. Considering the Twilight series intended audience, I can't think of a better way to capitalize on the books Japanese popularity.

Granted, a Twilight anime would more than likely be a full blown series (and more than likely Shoujo), but I wouldn't be surprised at how dolled up some Japanese writer could make it given they have creative control. The Powerpuff Girls Anime flew under the radar for me but I know for a fact it was nothing like the American program. I'm not expecting much, but hey, you never know.

Technicalities rule the world!

Its no surprise though that Japan would try to turn any film, Hollywood made or foreign film alike, into an anime. Its not the first time they've tried this and it definitely wouldn't be the last. Besides we should give them a chance like they give Hollywood chances to turn anime into live action (despite how much fail Hollywood has in doing so).

P.S. I heard the Blood live-action film was actually better than people thought it was going to be.

It's ok, Lily. I remember getting that shpeel from NK a while back in KAFC one fateful day. He means well, it's just a pet peeve of his. erwhat.gif

And I realize that it's going to draw an audience no matter what, but when popularity and thus the advantage to go out and do whatever the hell you want stems from being unjustifiably over-hyped and little more, it always leaves a sour taste in my mouth. It's not even that it's become an anime, which is something I enjoy, mind you, but it's not a wholly-significant part of my life. It's just the fact that it's getting all of this attention without any real merit other than an easily manipulated fanbase and the fact that the cash cow's teats haven't been milked desert-dry yet and probably won't be for quite a while. You could tell me that it was being turned into a TV show of any kind, or a video game, or a comic, or a full-blown line of T.Y. Beanie Babies and I'd still look at it all with utter disdain. _-_.gif

Alright, there's no anime. There is however, an MMO being developed.
