I'm long awaiting this movie, probably going to see it the 23rd or something, with my big possee of girls and my mom, to go drool over Taylor Lautner...ANYWAY...Anyone planning on going opening night?

That'll almost be anyone's reason for going.

I am considering going because the wolf effects look pretty neat. I'm considering giving the movies a chance since it won't follow the books perfectly and there won't be any of the drag that happens in the books.

Since New Moon is the point where the series could have taken the turn for Anita Blake's classic "dump the vampire, date the wolf" it has a bit more appeal.

Also: Taylor Lautner is delicious.

I always thought Taylor resembled a caveman...
Anywho, I am going sometime. Not opening night but sometime. I read the books back in grade 7 when they came out, and I am really looking forward to the movie. I like them despite the fact that they don't follow the books entirely. I'm a little glad that they don't try to do so, because it would be way too hard.

I'll probably see this like twice, once with my bf and once with my mom + sister.

Why yes he is...They need to work on Robert Pattinson some.

This movie will be better since there is actually action, and not "I'm going to stare at you for 40 minutes of the movie...."

Nice, Ashley.

I probably won't go to see it unless someone drags me along to it (although I sincerely doubt that any of the guys that I call my friends would willingly go see such a movie). I gotta say, though, hearing that it's different from the books makes me pre-hate it a little less. I tried reading the first book, but got bored with it and annoyed with the fangirls. Romances aren't really my thing.

The effects for the Werewolves, from what the commercial I caught showed, look pretty dull. I wasn't expecting guys in costumes (which would have been great) or animatronic models enhanced with CG, but at the very least it shouldn't come off as the type of green screening I'd see on Adult Swim. Okay, maybe it's not that bad. But I'm very disappointed with the overall shoddy film work. Even if the books aren't good that doesn't necessarily mean the movies have to be terrible to. Still, their target audience will flood in to see it anyway so the quality of the movie doesn't matter.

On an interesting side note, my buddy tends to dig around the net and read scripts when they pop up, and he's been saying it reads like a soap opera. I guess if people want to see "pretty" Hollywood faces on screen then it'll be worth it.

Whoever the producers are for this whole "saga" sure as hell lucked out. I mean, they could probably shoot everything in their backyard if they wanted to so long as they had their *cough*talentless*cough* cast of Hollywood former no-names and the Twilight label slapped across it, and they'd still rake in the bucks because any fangirl who's ever skimmed through the pages would sell their soul for opening night tickets and such.

It's like if the vampire fandom of Anne Rice met the acceptance of the Bible as universal doctrine for Christians mixed in with the simplicity of a Bernstein Bear's book. Sprinkle glitter for sparkly effects and slash out everything that makes a vampire a vampire save blood-sucking and immortality and that's Twilight in a nutshell. .-.

I just feel sorry for the pitiful shmucks with the girlfriends who like the series, seeing as how they're going to be dragged to the premiere. Poor souls...

Hey, hey, come on. Robert Pattinson and whoever plays Bella are awesome. They've stated many times they detest the book. I mean Pattinson made a bet with Rupert Grint that he won, and Grint was forced to read all of Twilight, complaining all the way.

I'd question him, too. hmmsmiley.png

And Frost, as true as that may be, it doesn't excuse their lack of acting credibility. Good acting can turn trash writing into something at least bearable, but they don't even scratch that surface. Plus they look funny. Pattinson looks as though he's been starved, bleached, and beaten, and Stewart's constant slack-jaw, "herp derp" expression makes me think she's missing half a brain or something.

Suck on that.

You haven't read any interviews with them have you? Pattinson deliberately plays Edward like an emo idiot because that's how he saw him. Stewart does the same thing for Bella. It takes a lot of skill to play an idiot convincing enough that you don't think he has any brains. Haven't you ever watched X-Play?

Eh, nobody's perfect. I always figured Oda had some kind of flaw. It's disappointing to see that he has to sink to that level, though. =/

Deliberately horrible acting or not, it's still not entertaining in the least, Frostypants. I don't read the interviews since I don't actively seek out things relating to Twilight, even if it's for the sake of Twihard bashing.

But by all means if you give me a link, I'd be willing to check it out. erwhat.gif

I'm going to go see it. Just to see if giant wolves dismember pansy emo vampires.

Ooooo...Also so I can laugh too loudly at the horrible acting. Twilight the movie just made me feel weird. Like I wanted to evacute the building. Weird.

You can't really say Stewart has no acting ablity she's been in movies I haven't laughed at and enjoyed. Though I'm not so sure about Pattinson. He's not even that good looking. And I've heard he doesn't shower on the regular.

And Peter Facineli (sp?) who the good vampire doctor he's not an total bust either.

Though I do agree with you other ladies Taylor Lautner is an nice piece of man candy. I'll go just to watch him romp around topless.
