To be honest I haven't pre-ordered it cause I didn't like the first l4d. I only know of a select few who actually have pre-ordered the second one. I wanted to try the demo but so far its only out for those who have pre-ordered which sucks.

The Left4Dead2 demo is now out for everyone, even those who didn't pre-order. After trying it out, I've gotta' say I enjoy more than I enjoyed the first one, and I liked the first one a lot.

Adding the new Special Infected while keeping the old ones (after adapting their models) was a smart move. They add a different kind of challenge, and the Charger has surprised me more than a few times. Rushing up on the group from behind without so much as a noise? Yikes.

The Spitter can be a pain when used properly, but the Jockey seems to get the short end of the stick. He's like a weak Hunter that can sort of move his target around after leaping. It can be useful, I guess, but it has to be very lucky against a good team. Wandering witches are a pain, but it also lowers the chance of the director spawning her in an unfair position. The Tank feels a bit weaker, but that could just be my imagination, either that or the weapons are more powerful (most likely possibility).

Everything looks smoother than it did in the first game, and the control of the weapons feels a bit more--realistic, I guess? The recoil is more noticeable than it was before.

Melee weapons are fun and have few drawbacks as far as I can tell. The screen does start to fill with blood spatters after awhile, so it kind of limits your vision.

I recommend at least trying the demo. I'm planning to pick up the game come November 17th.

This is sort of double-posting, but I figured since such a large amount of time has passed it should be okay.

After playing the official game, I've got to say I'm loving it. There are very few moments where I'm sitting around just waiting for something to kill. Special infected spawn much more frequently, and the horde appears more often as well. Items drop in a MUCH larger frequency than they did before, and you rarely come across a room without a gun, grenade, or melee weapon in it.

I've noticed that the story is a lot more important to this game. The characters actually introduce themselves to each other in the first campaign, and they even seem to have some confusion about what to call the special infected. It seems like each campaign is the next stage in the story whereas with Left 4 Dead (the first one) this connection had to be made solely by the players. Cues for characters to talk appear more often, and they all have a very distinct personality.

New Weapons:

Grenade launcher - I love it. If you took awesome and combined it with win, this weapon would be the result. It's great for clearing the path, gets a decent amount of ammo (30 rounds if I remember correctly), and takes out most special infected with one direct hit. Tanks take about three. It only holds one round at a time though, so reloading can be an issue.

Chainsaw - This one's pretty cool too. It's extremely useful against the common infected, but it doesn't seem to do as much against the Special Infected. The fuel gauge doesn't run out too fast, so you can have some fun with this one.

Special ammo types - These are neat, but they take up your first-aid/defib. slot. Once deployed, all four players can pick up the ammo type. Once this is done, you can just pick up your first-aid or defib. unit again, so no major loss. Explosive rounds are amazing (I split an infected right in half with one), and Incendiary does what you'd expect it to. I'm sure it kills things faster, but it's hard to tell with the common infected.

I really recommend getting it if you enjoyed the first Left 4 Dead. It will blow your expectations away. I know it did mine.

Anyone on XBL care to add me? It's been ages since I was anywhere near decent at these type of games.

I'm considering getting this game for the 360, even though several people have told me to get it for the PC.

What are your 'ficial instructions on this?

PC is generally the better version. Things like perfect framerate and access to modding, like replacing the horde's voice with Randy Savage.

While I have a great PC, I got the 360 version because:
A. I don't have a good monitor at the moment
B. Not many games on my 360 and I need something different to play

I'm debating what to get the game for, currently. My PC can't handle the game (can't play Half-Life 2, can barely play Melty Blood and Cave Story without slow down), and while I plan to get purchase a new one in the near future, I can't say how near that would be. The Pros for the PC version outweigh the waiting factor though.

The only reason I'd want the 360 version is simply because I know I could get it and play it now--there would be now obscure future waiting times before I could buy and play the game.

Yeah the platform deal was a problem for me with the first game. Most of my friends don't have a computer strong enough to run it so I was stuck between it and the 360. I was able to get the PC version for sale though so I just stuck with that. Much better decision. The DLC that came out was free for me and I had a multitude of mods and customs to play with.

The only downside was that not too many people I knew had it on the PC. So it was harder to get a game going with people I know could do well. So right now I'm stuck with the same decision for L4D2. Although I might just get the PC version again due to the fact that no one I know is buying it for the 360.

Just downloaded the demo onto my laptop to see if the game would run. It did. Excellent.

So if I get this, it'll be PC.

P...C... I did not know that Left 4 Dead 2 was on the PC. >.> I might consider buying it... That is if it doesn't suck that much memory. (My Sim's 2 game already sucks half of my memory. Baaaw.)

My cousin already has it for the 360, though. ($20 off the orignal price. Gotta love Black Friday.)
