Worst: Ouran High School Host Club. Runner-up 4Kids One Piece.

Best: I dunno, I haven't listened to very much anime in English.

alot of the 4kids dubs are horrible now that I look back on them.

The Code Geass Dub was rather bad IMO. It had only a few good VAs with many bad ones in place of the usually good Japanese Seiyuu, namely Nunnally and Shirley but I haven't watched the dub much so i don't know of any other bad VAs...

The Naruto Dub was pretty good if you switch back and forth between the two languages it almost seems like the main characters can speak two languages lol. They sound very similar to their counterparts IMO

Shakugan no Shana was a dub I did not like as well...

Best for me would have to be the dub for Full Metal Alchemist. Any who disagrees thats fine with me.

Worst: I think we can all agree One Piece is the winner for this one. Runner up would have to Naruto. Not really everyone else's voice but just Naruto himself. "Believe it!" was beginning to grate on my nerves!

One of the best dubbed voices was Onsokumaru for Shinobuden 2x2. Funniest voice besides dubbed Fukuyama off Girls Bravo. They keep me rolling every time I watch them. I was also cool with the Macross Plus dub.

Worst dubs? Naruto sucked at times, but livable for a dub. So was Ouran. One Piece though ... yep sucked more. Not possible for me to watch now because the dub killed it for me.

But the worst all time? Yugioh. I tried my best to give it a chance, but when he goes from whiney voice to his 'big boy' voice (when he's possessed or some crap like that) ... I'm like 'what the hell' and turn.

I think I'll have to agree with that. There were a lot of cringe worthy moments.

Worst: D.N. Angel. I'm a pretty lenient, hard-to-annoy guy, but I'm sorry D.N. Angel was bad. The voice for Dark Mousy was, in my opinion, just too high pitched. Granted I saw the Japanese dub first, but I'm pretty good at ignoring previous versions so I can give the other versions a fighting chance. I just felt Dark, being a 17 year old past puberty, to have a deeper voice than what he had in D.N. Angel. No fault on Vic Mignogna's part, it was just a bad choice of voice. Maybe putting Vic as Daisuke Niwa would've been better.

Best: Cowboy Bebop is the only series thats really standing out in my head. I liked the Japanese dubs, but I also really enjoyed the English dubs. All the characters were good in tone and pitch; it felt like it was really their voices and not some voice actors and actresses playing the roles. I really felt the sense of emotion coming off of each character when speaking.

P.S. Not even gonna lay into 4kids on this one. I'm sure everyone else is gonna rip them a new one. Forget 4kids.

Off the top of my head I'd say the Best (in my opinion) were Ouran High School Host Club, Fruits Basket and Bleach.

The worse (again, in my opinion) were Chrono Crusade (I made it through one episode of the english dub and that was enough), Gundam 00 (Sorry, but some of the voices were horrid. The show was awesome, but the voices ... eh), and then One Piece. I've really got nothing to say about this.

Fullmetal Alchemist had a very good dub. Considering it was dubbed in 2005, back when dubs were still bad. Cowboy Bebop, The Big O, Wolfs Rain, Darker than Black, and Claymore were all good dubs. I also liked Code Geass's dub, and Bleach's dub.

The bad... Gurren Lagann. The only voice I could stand in the dub was Leeron's voice, that's because Steve Blum (The Voice of Spike on Cowboy Bebop. 8D) got the fruity gayness of Leeron.

Lucky Star, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuustu, Kanon, and Air TV all had awful dubs. Blarg.

ADV mostly had awful dubs, now that I think about it.

QUOTED FOR TRUTH. :'D Abridged YuGiOh is FANTASTIC.

Now, for my input. Bad anime English dubs would have to be in this order starting with the worst:
  1. Death Note
  2. Fruits Basket
  3. Ouran High School Host Club
  4. Bleach

The best ones I can't really comment on. I've not invested much time into watching animes in English, as Frosty said too. I usually go for Japanese. But to reiterate my point, if I had to choose just two of the worst ones I've heard, it'd be DN and Furuba. D: They keel me on da inside.

Worst: Ouran. No offense, but some of the voices just
didn't suit their character.

Sailor Moon, Last seasons.
I didn't like Sailor Moons voice in the laster seasons.
She sounded to posh for my taste and for how she was.
I also didn't like the other four Inner scouts and Rini's.
Their voices just didn't sound right, Jupiters was the only
voice that sounded good for her.

Best:Ultimate Muscle. The Japanese version of this is really serious.
While the dub is light hearted, full of funny jokes and really, the voices aren't that bad.
They actually suit them.

Yu-Gi-Oh GX... Always has been my favourite Yu-Gi-Oh series.
I liked the voices they provided, None of them were too whiney
or annoying.

Outlaw Star, It had good voice actors.

Sailor Moon, First few season.
I liked the voices the characters had,
They suited them well.

Um... The Death Note dub was really well done. Light, L, hell even Matsuda all had good voices. The translation wasn't that far off from the subs either. =/ Bleach's dub is also well done, along with Fruits Basket.

Keep in mind that Japanese males have deeper voices then most Americans. (Unless you want a Southern guy voicing in anime. 8I)

Evangelion was pretty good. I liked the English voices (for the most part) in Melancholy of Haruhi. I can sit through Pretear easily.

HATE HATE HATE Ouran. It killed my inner child. Fruits Basket had a couple pretty lousy ones, too. Tohru's voice didn't fit and she sounded whiny while Momiji's was waaaay too girly. Is it really so hard to find a young boy to voice act? Really?

What's wrong with you people?! Some of you are hitting the nail right on the head, and then again, you're missing some that are staring you right in the face!

For best, I have to give the title to FLCL. The voice acting is superb in more ways than one, even going so far as to keep the original Japanese honorifics in their speech. In several ways, I prefer the dubbed FLCL to the original because of how much the VAs embraced their characters and gave them a life of their own that's usually diluted once you throw Engrish dubbing into the mix.

Close behind it are FMA, GITS: SAC (along with 2nd Gig), Samurai Champloo, Big O, and Eureka 7. Each of them were incredibly well-done. Honorable mentions go to Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, and Trigun.

As for the worst, I give that (dis)honor to G Gundam. But it's ok, because it was campy enough to the point where I actually reveled in the hilarity of its ridiculousness. Nevertheless, the voice acting just lacked, and the lip-syncing threw me off on more than one occasion. The entire ordeal became a parody of itself the more I watched it.

Then again, that's predictable with a lot of the older animated stuff when anime dubbing was in its early stages. The same could be said for Dragonball, DBZ, YuYu Hakusho, Tenchi Muyo! (and the other Tenchi series), and Lupin the 3rd.

(I enjoyed Lupin the 3rd regardless of the dubbing, though, because it's just an awesome series whichever way you do it.)

I reserve everything done by 4KIDS in its own category, because anything touched by them is the equivalent to insta-rape. Everyone knows whatever's dubbed by them is awful, so there's no sense listing them.

So yeah, that's enough for this post. mellow.gif
