I like that long offers for more plot, but it gets tedious and I get bored. I like short stories because I don't lose interest, they are usually more packed with action and humor and romance, and I don't have to spend $100 for the whole series! -------------------

I would have to say short, because it's hard to find all the volumes for a long manga series. |

I'm just that open, as all it has a good story and character build up I really don't care 'cause in the end I'm going to cry because it ended -------------------

It depends...
I prefer short because I usually lost patience to read it if it is way too long. But it is better if the plot is developed and the story has ending which perfectly fits with all of happenings and characters... sooooo I like short manga series in good quality. |

Yep, it really depends on both the quality of the series and the storyline, the characters, all those tiny details. Me, I almost stopped following Negima! by the time it hit book 20, but the series is already about 3 times longer than Love Hina was (and LH was 14 books), and I'm still following it as every new story arc just keeps me hooked. Not to mention it's got awesome art as well. :>
Short series also have their own charm, but for long series, I think it's more based on what makes the fans come back for more. -------------------

Both, longer series have to be really good though. i don't read many series above 14 volumes ^^;
because shorter versions are easier to collect and reread, and they are good and fun to read (like Fairy Cube, it was only three volumes though T_T) then i'd be happy to buy them and read them over and over again X3 |

Depends for me. I don't mind a long series if it keeps me engaged and the story plot is still moving at a good pace. If it get's boring and I start losing interest tough I usually stop reading for a very long time (ex. Inuyasha).
But short stories are good too because they're usaully never slow and they leave me feeling satisfied. And they are easy to collect as someone said before so yeah:) it depends. |

I'm gonna go with long manga.
I love the long series because I get to see more of what's happening in the story and it give detail of what's going on. The longer ones have more action, more romance scenes, more character plots, and etc. I Love to read those because even though they maybe longer at least they give me a good thought on the story. Also when I'm finally done with that book, It makes me feel like even though I just read it that I have to have more, that i need to find out what happens in the next chapter or book. They keep me guessing and it's a very good feeling to have when reading manga. -------------------

I prefer long manga
as long as the storyline doesn't get too redundant and repetitive. (stuff like DeathNote, I cannot stand and I agree with Moomoogirl1 on the Inuyasha thing). -------------------

I prefer short series that are under 16 volumes. After that it gets plenty ridiculous, especially when trying to collect the series. The two longest series I've collected so far and don't regret collecting is Rurouni Kenshin and Naruto. After that no thanks. -------------------

Ditto. If it's a really good manga series that I feel like is worth collecting, I'll wait to purchase the volumes in English. But sometimes I get upset because the Japanese releases are usually so far ahead and I wanna know what happens, but I don't wanna read spoilers. D.Gray-Man, for example. But I think a better one would be One Piece since Japan has their 54+ volumes as opposed to the 22 that have been released in North America. |

Kinda both but more towards short. Because long ones have good climax moments but at the same time between those it's filled with crap that no one really cares about. And they often explain the same thing over and over and over and over again.
Short one's end to quickly and I cry. -------------------

Live topic live.
I like both. They both offer different things for me. The long ones offer ongoing entertainment and something to look forward to. While the short ones may move faster and lack certain things that the long ones have they get straight to the point. I like that. But, then again I read my manga online because I'm broke. So I only have to wait for somebody to post stuff. -------------------

It depends on the series, if it's good it doesn't matter if it's long or short. |

Actually Im ok with ANY...
The problem with long series is that it gets boring and soon after drop it LIKE NARUTO After like skipping 60-70 (maybe more) chapters It got intresting again. Some good Longs ones are GTO -------------------

Depends on the story itself. A long manga is great if the story works with being long but if the story doesn't keep up the interest, then I tend to stop reading. Problem with that is it's hard to get back into the story.
A short manga is also good cause it means the story has more twists to keep you gripped and doesn't take awhile to build up to a major event. The downside is that a short story can feel rushed with plot holes and sometimes a short story can be so brilliant, it's a disappointment it's not made longer. Anyway, sorry for rambling, it ultimately depends on the story of the manga and whether it works better as a short or long manga. Example: Zombie Powder should have continued while Death Note felt stretched in some places. Expected the Kira side of Light to be a separate entity or become a Shinigami at the end. -------------------

Hmm, depends I guess. I do tend to lose interest quickly though, so I'd have to say short. My definition of long is also anything with over 40 chapters.
Cheers! -------------------
