Pyro sitting at the computer watching anime
Mother walks by and sees said anime
"Hey, you're not doing anything, why don't you take out the trash?"
"Hold on, they're about to fight, I gotta see this."

Nyaaaah, i tried introducing it to my Dad, and he really only liked Le Chavelier D'eon and Jing: King of bandits it seems. he hated Yugioh, Megaman, and Chrono Crusade XDDD.
but other than that he generally dislikes anime.
my mom is more interested in Japanese fashion and food than anime ^^;.

Oh joy. Parents and anime. My mom thinks I'm "obssesed" with it and she thinks it's unhealthy for a girl my age to be interested in it becuase they're animated cartoons. Basically in a nutshell she thinks I should start growing out of anime. Like that's going to happen.err.gif

My dad's better becasue he actually watched the really, REALLY old school anime's when he was a kid (Speed Racer annd Astro Boy anyone?) but he thinks anime today is a joke. He loves to make fun of it and when I let him take me to Otacon a while back he just laughed his butt off at the cosplayers ( I feel your pain Choki).

So yeah. The two are an interesting mix. However they did show some interest in Bleach for some reason...blink.gif

First I know I posted in one of these... *Oh WELL*

In my opinion It would be weird to introduce anime to my parents. They didn't want to watch cartoons made by...as they would say...*CHINESE PEOPLE* I was mad at them for criticizing people with such material in cartoons. After a while the only anime show I got my Mom to watch was Naruto. She didn't understand it at first but after watching a few episodes she warmed up to it. Lucky me!

I don't think my parents could think of anime as anything other then a cartoon, and even if they got past that I really don't think they could understand whats going on in the show

I agree adults sometimes say ...
*THEY DIDN"T HAVE THESE SHOWS BACK IN MY DAY*
And then they would want to change the channel to something they like and we hate.
Although some adults can get used to watching anime as long as they can understand the plot and figure out what's going on.

Let's take it to the next level! Have any of you tried to introduce anime to your parents?

Anime is not my girlfriend!

I wouldn't even bother, they're both a million years old and would be like, "Children talking go away blah blah old people stuff."

HAH! my mom hated anime before I even knew what it was...
so there goes that...
My dad watches Naruto and just recently
became a fan of death note (then again, he watches spongbob
so I'm not all that surprised...)

My Grandfather (on the other hand) is an addict. I think he may
like anime more than I do XD

Ahhh....My parents....They know of anime and have been introduced to it against their will.....My mom's seen Howl's Moving Castle. She didn't get it. But, she's pretty observant though, one time me and my brother were talking about the latest Naruto blah blah....Then later in the evening she turned on one of the Naruto movies they were showing on Cartoon Network.

I was like sweet!!!! My mom rocks....My dad on the other hand I'm pretty sure doesn't care. He's come to terms with me being an Nerdling a looonnnnggg time ago. He's into pirates though so I'm thinking of introducing him to One Piece...Dubbed of course..He's one of those people who can't read and watch at the same time. :D

Introducing anime to my parents? When I'm already a closet otaku enough as it is unless around a small, select few people?

Perish the thought. erwhat.gif

Mum won't even try, Dad has to have dogs and wolfs (Heros not evil). Grandmother loves Death Note but wishes it had less Misa and more L. Most people I ask about anime either never heard of it or believe it should be done live.

I tend to borrow animes from the library and watch them on th TV in the living room, so my parents see it and watch it. They make fun of it a lot, especially of naruto when it was in filler mode, but I notice that every time I turn it on and they are in there with me they are hooked. Hee hee
