So, if you have been living under the rock, Iran recently had an election just last week. The problem is that a lot of people are calling it a rigged election.

What's your opinion on it?

Well, they're claiming the US had some involvement with the supposed "rigging".

What else is new?

Having talked to an Iranian personally ("Fresh Prince of Persia") who is known to be a respectable news source, reliably and truthfully reporting on many OPERATOR(read: military/politics) subject, and having him say that elections were closed early when it was clear Mousavi was winning, I'm pretty sure it's a fraud.

According to the good ol' BBC, winners of elections in Iran aren't confirmed until three days after voting day.

Ahmedinejad was confirmed victorious after eighteen hours.

In addition, the BBC's analysts claimed that looking at local polls indicated that the election would be too close to call until the votes actually came through.

Now they're saying Mr Hairy Grinny Man won by 80%.

This couldn't be anymore rigged without having a guy with an AK47 standing behind the ballot box shooting everyone who voted against ol' Dinejad and eating their ballot paper.

This link is NSFW and shows first hand what's going on in Iran right now. Do not click if you're not ready to see some serious stuff. Once again, NSFW.

You have a young woman (Neda) who was shot by the Iranian police force for a peaceful protest. The entire election was a hoax.
Dictators will find a way to stay in power, this 'democratic' election was simply a joke.

Apparently they're refusing to have a reelection, which to me quite clearly indicates the last one was rigged - if it were genuine, they wouldn't have anything to fear with another election or a recount. And they've made it quite clear that they aren't going to allow the West to interfere, after expelling two British diplomats, and have already shown they'll gladly use force against their own people to stay in power. It's all going to end in tears.

The guy who won was getting mad at Obama for saying anything about it too, he said he was just like Bush and that he was meddling in the Iranian affairs.

Me and my mom believe that Iran is just trying to stir something big, with everyone.

It looks like the overt protests are over... however the infighting within the government will quietly continue.

What is evident is that this has shaken their spiritual leader as this has been the first time people have gone against his will... When he ordered for the protests to stop, they did not. May seem minor, but it was the first time large numbers ignored him.

As for the future... 'A house divided can not stand' as one reporter put it...

@Sakon: Iran has allot of dislike about the US and UK... it was us that ended democratic rule in Iran and installed a very unpopular dictator/king. The King's son would fall to the Islamic revolution.

Along with propaganda and past actions, Iran (regardless which side) will take a long time to forgive.

Their is general support by the people to have Nuclear Energy and again, they see the US meddling... rightly or wrongly.
