So we're met with our first new character, Isaac MacDougall the Ice Alchemist. He's in Central, and up to no good as he draws a number of transmutation circles all around the city. A wanted man, he's a deserter of the army who participated in the Ishbal Campaign.



Ed and Al are in the city, and currently under the heel of Roy Mustang. Hence, one choke chain yank later, the brothers are sent out to fight the Ice Alchemist and bring him to justice. Along the way, they are assisted by Alex Louis Armstrong the Strong Arm Alchemist. *sparkles*

After escaping, Isaac makes his way to Central Prison, where he confronts the Crimson Alchemist, a man known for making people explode during the Ishbal Campaign. He invites the Crimson Alchemist to join in his battle against the State, but is declined as Kimblee is not looking for some kind of conquest or revenge. He just likes making people pop for fun.



Isaac makes his way to a wide open rooftop to overlook the city, where he confronted by Roy Mustang and a hand full of men. Anyone with a brain knows of Roy's weakness, however, and he is quickly doused with water trapped in the pipes running along the roof. I couldn't help but screencap this.



After dodging Roy and his flames, Isaac attempts to activate the transmutation circles around the city, but is suddenly trapped between the two Elric brothers. As the red lights from the circles rise into the sky surrounding the city, Ed suddenly realizes the Ice Alchemist could only be doing this with a Philosopher's Stone.

The activation seems to gather the attention of someone far off, and we see a brief glimpse of an unnamed (yeah right) person.



EPIC BATTLE~DESU.



As we can expect, Isaac gets away from everyone else and attempts to disappear in the back alleys of the city. Unfortunately for him, he runs into everyone's favorite "man", King Bradley. Apparently, he's so full of awesome, he sucks the color out of everything around him.



The Ice Alchemist sees this as his chance to take down an entire country, but is no match for King Bradley's superior swordsmanship. A single slice later, and he can fit in a single mayonnaise jar.



As Isaac dies, the small Philosopher's Stone (FAKE) falls off his body and disintegrates, removing any trace of it being on him at all. A quick cleanup later, Ed and Al are chilling in a hospital room when Armstrong shows up to "cheer them up". There's something Majorly wrong with that sight.

Anyway, after everything has died down, we see a glimpse of Lust and Gluttony in Riole (translation of the subber, don't blame me for this). She's speaking with someone on the phone about everything being set up in Riole. And then...

Well not really. The ending was amusing. However, I have some qualms about the voice acting. I'm too used to the original VA cast. I mean, the Colonel doesn't sound like the Colonel, Armstrong doesn't sound like Armstrong. Oh, and HUGHES HAS A HOUSE! NOT AN APARTMENT BUILDING.



So far, it would seem that they have lied about it being more like the manga. Oh, how many episodes is this supposed to have?

I don't know, but I'm gonna be watching this till the final episode.

Also: anyone know where to find the MP3's of the opening/ending?

They both won't be released till around June.

The first episode was okay, it didn't really feel like anything happened though. Of course, being the first episode, I suppose that's alright.

Then I'm also curious about why, if this is remake, they don't explain the characters more. Yeah, I get that they're probably hoping fans of the old series and the manga might be joining, but that's not a very good excuse. They explain some things but not others.

They don't usually explain a whole lot on the first episode. If you check the preview, the second episode is the Elric Brother's past. They'll probably work their way up from there.

I enjoyed this new series though! It's nice to see Ed and Al again. Also, this is the first time that I have watched the series in Japanese because I am a Vic Mignogna fan. I have yet to read the manga, but I have a friend who owns a majority of them. Imma barrow them.

I also LOVE the opening and closing.

I agree the opening and closing were pretty good.

I'm not a fan of FMA, actually I think its probably one of the most overrated series along with Naruto and Bleach.

With that being said however I like how this remake is starting versus the old version. The fight in the first episode of the remake would've lasted two episodes if we were going by the original where the first two episodes was a 2 parter.

So in the end this series gets a few extra points though it sucks Hughes daughter was already born. It made for a pretty funny episodes in the original but oh well.

My biggest concern is if they written the characters better so they can finally be dynamic. All the characters by the end of the first series of FMA, felt they didn't really change at all. They were too static of characters.

You people need to read the manga. FMA Manga is superior to first season. AND THIS for now.

FMA = overrated... I wont even touch the manga, the anime is the closest Ill ever get.

I stopped watching at episode 7, mostly because I couldn't find a link to an episode anywhere ever since Youtube went all comando on anime....
