Peacemaker Kurogane (PEACE MAKER鐵) is a historical fiction manga and anime series created by mangaka Nanae Chrono. The story begins in 19th century Japan before the Meiji Restoration, while the seeds of the revolution are being planted. The story follows the boy protagonist, Ichimura Tetsunosuke, who joins the Shinsengumi (initially as Hijikata Toshizo's page) while seeking strength to avenge his parents' death by a Choshu rebel.

There are two manga series and an anime series. Shinsengumi Imon Peacemaker is the first manga and it starts right when Tetsu tries to join the Shinsengumi. Peacemaker Kurogane is the sequel to Shinsengumi Imon Peacemaker, after some time has passed. The anime series, Peacemaker Kurogane, is based entirely on the first manga (Shinsengumi Imon Peacemaker) for its storyline, but it borrows quite a few scenes from Peacemaker Kurogane for filler.

Peacemaker is more adventure than action and it is a very fun series to read / watch! However, supposedly the mangas are MUCH more interesting than the anime series.
