I know I'm less and less active these days on the boards, but it's not about having stopping to watch animes, I still keep an eye on them. In fact I have the feeling I only store them now as they're more and more available show thanks to all the fansubbers around.

Am I the only one who feels like there's more shows than one year ago? And more than the year before that one?

The only other explanation I have for this feeling is that I've started to watch animes on a weekly basis (meaning, I don't see old complete shows, but a lot of new shows as soon as they're out). Note that I still watch old shows.

You're not the only one. I watch almost all the new shows that just come out. Fansubbers are great and fast. I download them, then buy DVDs afterward. Yes there are more animes out this year than last or the previous. Anime business is booming, and with that more animes are getting made. New animes such as ef - tale of memories, ef - tale of melodies and a few other made big income when they came out, thus they made a lot of *kaching* $$.

So expect to see quite a few other new animes coming out anytime soon.

w00f + m.3.3.w + Chihiro ftw.

Anime has kind of become less underground, but not quite mainstream. It's good to have a wider selection of anime regardless of your choice of media.

However, I wish that it were easier to purchase and less expensive in stores and online. I really do want to contribute to the American anime companies, but if they charge so damn much I can't afford it. I was lucky to find the Full Metal Panic: First Raid in a box set for $60. FREAKING LUCKY!

Anime has kind of become less underground, but not quite mainstream.

I hope it stays that way.

I can't relate though. Mainly because I don't know where to look for new anime. I never know what new series to start because I don't know what's coming out.

I do agree completely with fansubs being the way to go. The one show I do watch is a fansub. If anyone cares to gimme some pointers on how to stay on top of the new shows let me know please. smile.gif

Fansub wiki is what you need. Fansub Wiki

I linked you to the spring 2009 list; they have a list for summer up already, but no subbers for those anime have been announced yet.

That's not true. Anime is quite mainstream indeed =)

It is very cheap if you know where to look. I buy my anime online all the time. Robert's Anime Corner Store has anime which is quite cheap.

All of you subbed anime downloaders might want to check this out:

I agree Sai. Everytime I ask if they have a book , or anime movie, they say no. They keep telling me it might take a few month...(4-9). That is, though I hardly buy at stores anymore. I just get them from a friend or cousin. It works esier for me,cause they always have the new ones that just came out, wither in stores or online.

.... blink.gif Wow. that's quite an improvement in your typing there. Nice job. thumbsup.gif

I can't even get street date for the more popular series that I know everyone is waiting for. But other books I don't care about are posted with their expected release dates at the front.

It's mainstream is some age ranges, but still rather overlooked for it's market potential. So we keep having to rely on subbers and the net, even when things are available and licensed.

Sigh~

Local stores charge almost twice as much if not more.

I had an anime store nearby (now closed), I saw Noir Box Set, and it was $60(+tax). I bought it online for $40. Exact same copy. Brand new.

I think it depends on who runs the store. Recently I bought anime from a store down in Salt Lake. I could purchase almost any series in the store for about $30. I think the trick was that the store was run by a anime fan who was doing very well in his business. So it depends on if they are a fan or not.

And who their wholesaler is. I know for a fact that the box sets I want are available online, but my guy can't even so much as find them through his wholesaler. It sucks because he loses a lot of potential business from that. People come in all the time looking for series that are hot and he can rarely ever get them so the people end up spending their money online.

Yes, is not too uncommon for a Anime Store to be ran by a fan of Anime. The same would be for someone who runs a comic store. You can't have a non-comic fan running a shop. It's just not right. tongue.gif

Why? Is it so strange to find that someone who runs an anime store is an anime lover? I don't get your point there...

well because when I go into an anime store to buy a movie or anime book the person behind the counter doesn't really look like an anime fan. To me it looks like a normal person that needed a job.

I have the same probem to. In fact most of my anime box sets is second hand and there about 25-40 dollors(depending on condision and how many disks). so far there in reasonble nick to smile.gif

But most of my problem buying anime is i live in a country town, the odds of an anime store opening here are staggering sad.gif
