this depends on the type of manga...but i'll put my top few up:
1) mary-sues and marty-stus D:
2) when they can't stop talking during a fight, WHERE'S THE VIOLENCE?!?!?! IT'S SHONEN 4 GAWDS SAKE!!! rant.gif
3) too much fan service
4) when u can tell the manga-ka got bored and ended it as soon as possible, noramally with some1 dying or moving away without any real warning to try and make a sad/powerful ending.
5) boys that were MADE for the purpose of outside the manga fangirls (haha prince of tenis)
6) TO BE CONTINUED O_O i don't have much of an attention span, if something isn't continued right away i pick up another manga and 4get about the other 1. >_<
7) those stupid names that are 10 syllibals long and u can never remember them. i hate it when i go to a con and see a cosplayer and say "HEY it's that guy from that one series that i can't remember their name sad.gif" then i look like a n00b abd they walk up and say "I'm hajimaruijikyo."
"spell that plz? smile.gif"

For me it's usually..

*Poor art work; I cannot even pick up manga if I dislike the artwork. I just can't force myself to look at it if the art work bugs me...
*The story is aweful; I'll find a manga series that has the most beautiful artwork I've ever seen...And then when I go to read it I'm so sad because it's just terrible.
*When a certain character is always, or 90% of the time, completely helpless. When they need to be rescued like every volume of the manga. XD
*Having to suffer through every detail of a characters life...When that character is someone I just can't stand.

Ugly Art work, I think it's an actual style since I see enough of it but I can't stand it I have to get into what I'm looking at.

Never ending fights, anything that goes over 4 chapters is bad, their are a few exceptions to this but after a while whoever their fighting just looks cheap and I get bored with them. (this doesn't include fights that get a page or two over like 15 chapters while the rest of the good guys duke it out)

Certain charecter cliches, some I like but other's like the obligatory sexist I just can't stand, you know what I'm talking about the guys who go "oh you're a girl so you suck" "or you can't possibly be a challenge you're a girl so try not to die to fast"

Obvious plot holes that the mangaka has either fogotten to fill or has just decided to move on from (like Hell in Bleach)

Charecters whored out for fangirls, like Hitsugaya from BLEACH, yeah he's not a bad charecter but i'd rather see some of the other captains in action you know?

Changing the plot mid series, once again BLEACH is a great example.

Flat characters and perverted manga, as they usually go hand in hand. Even a rehashed storyline can be interesting with fresh characters, but the recycled ones seem to find their way out of the garbage again and again. Its understandable though, people go with what works and the brash hero is always on the top of that list (alongside the kid with a dark past or deep secret who dresses in dark clothes and is filled with angst), but to see a reach every now and again makes for a more compelling manga as a whole.

My problem with perverted manga, or ecchi, is that it often lacks any sort of depth outside of some awkwardly nerdy main character surrounded by women who find him attractive for some reason. As a standalone, none of the characters are all that interesting and can be freely switched up with any other character from an existing series, so the only point of interest is the panty flashes or bewbs. Now while that may appeal to Elementary through High School kids, it gets a bit dull after a certain point in your life. erwhat.gif

Oh, and I don't like lazy artists, like Tite Kubo. That guy doesn't even add tones to his artwork half the damn time, and recently he's pursued a route of empty backgrounds (one would assume its to add depth to an scene but that gets lost when you see blank backgrounds every other page and panel) alongside drawings which are completely out of scale. Its not just Tite Kubo, but plenty of artists, especially when drawing a long running series get lazy and stop using tones, shading, drawing frames by hand, start using large frames... I could go on and on, but y'all get the idea.

Quoted(ref) Jayu Makusho (on 8 July, 2008, 12:53 AM PDT)

I also dislike when they tell the ENTIRE history of a character nobody cares about (especially when they are a minor character)

I agree with u. That really takes up time and delays whats really going on making the fans angry, and a little annoyed * or alot*

I agree. Naruto is terrible when it comes to that.

I agree with u and Jayu
Characters in naruto have alot of flash backs that really don't go with the story line. (Itachi, Sasuke, and others) But although they are minor characters in the story doesn't mean u can just stop the main story line for 3 to 5 episodes to tell some one elses.

Poorly done artwork, bad writing, something dragging on forever, something completely off-topic with what's going on at the moment(like a bad flashback made in an attempt to "build a character"), bad translations, and poorly developed characters are the things that get me a lot. Another thing that really sets me off is when the art is obviously ripped from another piece of work.

It ticks me off when
-there so much text in a page that it almost covers the drawing
-bad artwork
-bad storyline
- the ending of every chapter doesn't excite me to read the next chapter.
-the story is only focus on one character.

guess that's it biggrin.gif

+ Poor Artwork.
+ Bad Storyline.
+ Yuri.
+ Perverted Manga.
(Unless it's used in a funny/random way)
+ Fanservice.
+ Bad endings.
+ When the humour goes dull.
+ When all the characters look the same
and have no unique features to them.
+ When a page is covered with a lot of text.
+ Bad translations.
+ When characters go way too emo.

-I probably have more.-

For me is:

-When there's talking into a fight,ex.Naruto vs Sasuke, and especially the thoughts of the characters.Do we need to know what they are thinking at that moment?
-When a certain character is at the spotlight for a long time,ex.Moka from Rosario + Vampire,it's like the rest are so weak in front of those characters.
-In shoujo mangas why do guys have to look LIKE GIRLS?They're guys, not girls for god's sake.
-I hate hearing this expression both for guys and girls in manga:"I haven't had a boyfriend/girlftiend for 15 years.Oh how I would like to have one" and blah-blah like that. It's like that's the goal of a human being to have a beautiful gf/bf.
-When in harem mangas the main character always ends up with the one he first fell in love.Just don't make it more obvious.
-Hm..what's with all this I-don't-mind-being-nude-around-you thing,it happens in many ecchi/harem mangas and I've gotten tired of it.I can't take it anymore how Lala undresses everytime in front of people and she's got that look on her face like nothing happened. It drives me crazy.

I think that's all for now.

I dislike mangas with these qualities:

1) That ditzy heroine as mentioned earlier. I see it in anime and manga alike lately and there's only so many I can watch and read before I get bored of it.

2) Mangas that, somehow, get 40+ volumes to it when its not very good (aka Inuyasha and Bleach, exception to Naruto on this only cause the manga is getting better over time, while Bleach is getting worse over time)

These are the only 2 bad qualities. As long as the manga doesn't have these, I will read just about any manga out there, (err short of Yaoi but I didn't honestly need to put that there cause it should be obvious I wouldn't read it).

P.S. long release dates, like for Fruits Basket, is to be expected. You can't expect teh mangaka to work on one series for 7 years without taking a break.

Take a page from Sugisaki, mangaka for DN Angel. She went on hiatus for like 2 years without writing a single DN Angel chapter cause she wanted to do something else. I applaud her for that and despite being without DN Angel for 2 years, im glad she did something else. Now she's back and new volume will be out in September sometime.

Excessive harem type mangas. It's rather sickening.

I salute that. The only interesting part is why there is the harem, if you call that interesting.

If the artwork is bad, it pretty much ruins it for me. Seriously, eyes are not supposed to take up half a side of the face.
Weird plots, kinda like Angel Sanctuary, I had no clue what happened, who people were, and it was full of some weird.

Even though harem type anime's are very very disgusting ... some people actually like that kind of stuff...... Who ever does is totally sick and twisted rant.gif u hear me I mean it.
But some one is just trying to make a show more interesting then it needs to be which in return ruins it. That is also another thing that ticks me off about MANGA!!

Harem animes are typically for super romance types. They give the illusion of different couplings between the main characters.

MIND YOU I love Ouran Host Club and it's a reverse harem. But it's not the usual harem type where the man gets the crap kicked out of him or molested violently by the women of the series (Love Hina).

Ouran sticks to the general plot line and makes it less lovey squishy than the usual stuff.

And you might want to tone down the level in insult in your opinion. Calling someone sick and twisted for liking something you dislike is quite rude and is bound to offend someone and potentially cause conflict. Just a thought for the future.
