Are we talking regular non massive soviet damage anti air for Tager or am I missing something here? Since Tager's air command grab is evil.

It would seem only you are currently interested in Taokaka in this thread at the moment. I still wonder where the whole Taokaka craze came from... It's because she's a cat-girl isn't it? ._.

Her jump-crouch-jab game is where it's at. I feel unclean whenever I use it (and somehow manage to win).

IT'S BECAUSE TAO IS LIKE A BOSS.

In addition to being a catgirl.

And having DAT bum bum.

And generally playing pretty great, except vs. Arakune and Jin. And Tager, due to ARAKUNE, icecar, and MASSIVE SOVIET DAMAGE, respectively.

Tager has two anti-air attacks, one being a command grab and the other being his 2C (or is it 3C? I forget). Both of these moves are slow, the 2C being horrendously slow, and only useful if you've managed to pressure an opponent into doing something stupid like trying to jump out of the corner when you've created the space to punish. They're common in Tager combos, but otherwise the recovery time on both makes em easy to capitalize on. His anti-air options are worse than Bang's which is why Taokaka and Arakune players have so much fun with Tager.

See, here's the thing about Tager vs Tao. Tao has high mobility, a crouch/walk that lets her crawl under projectiles, high damage in combos, and HIGH MOBILITY. What is the antithesis of a Tager? Anything that moves quick or can hit from afar. Regardless of Tager's damage output, it doesn't mean a thing when Tao can take advantage of his slow movement and giant hitbox. And because he has no proper anti-air, her high-speed drives overhead mean she's relatively safe when escaping, if need be. Her pressure is really good, she can dodge his one projectile by crouching under it, she capitalizes on his bad recovery time--the only thing Tao has to worry about from Tager, aside from getting caught in a combo, is his Magna Tech Wheel, and that's easy to block when it's thrown out randomly, and his backdash as a set up for Tager Busters. You can jump out of that if you realize it's following up.

Can he hit her hard? Hell yes. A properly timed Tager Buster can wreck a full HP Tao, but that's if the player is playing stupid (mashing slicey on block, using meatys to poke when it's not safe, Drive canceling without a plan). Tager can dominate a Tao player when they play stupid, the same applies for anyone, really. If you can't break grabs, for example, prepare for pain. But if you realize that unless he's got you magnetized you can really put the hurt on him, and you punish whiffed Sledge Hammers, Tager Busters, and crawl under his 5A, D, and 5C... well, have fun.

In other words, what are you talkin' about?

Tao's big disadvantage games are Rachel, Arakune (derp), and Jin. It's not even that big of a disadvantage either, except with Arakune (herp derp) and Rachel. Jin's ice combos hurt, and his anti-air game is amazing since essentially everything he throws out with C is an anti-air. He can set up Drive combos nicely against her and mess with a Tao players head, but you can still crawl under most of what he throws out, including Ice Car. Playing patiently is hard since he has projectiles, but you can't rush in, either. It's a test of timing and knowing when to punish Jin for whiffing a Blizzard or 5D or a poke chain.

Arakune (DEEEERP) and Rachel have the advantage of being able to respond to everything a Tao player does, putting on ridiculous amounts of pressure at a moments notice (with a Slypheed Gauge anyway), and using her crappy block to crush her guard with those block strings.

Now for some Continuum Shift:

Looks like I was wrong about Aksys putting in 4 new characters (although Nu-12 could be considered new if you wanna be a nitpicker), and they'll stick with Tsubaki and Hazama. Here's to hoping they don't break everyone else and make these two god-like, although from how Tsubaki's playing style sounds, I wouldn't doubt it.

It's still possible that they would add in two more characters for the home version. They added Hakumen and Nu for the home version for BlazBlue so there's still hope. Of course, this is going by the fact that your sources are correct. Also, I highly doubt that the two new characters will break the game. I'm sure Aksys knows what they're doing.

Also, PSNs nao. D:

Hakumen and Nu were in the arcade version, Chief.

Both characters were playable in the Arcade, they just didn't appear on the character select screen until after a player beat Arcade Mode (which was relatively quick since it's an Arcade game). I don't see Mikoto (Makoto? Whatever, she's a squirrel) being a secret boss, but then again I don't know how she ties into the story. Jubei on the other hand...

Arakune and Nu disagree with you.

Tsubaki is shaping up to be a lot like Order Sol from what I've heard, which is interesting. And since the game is becoming a bit more Turtle player friendly from what the loc testers are saying, hopefully that will even things out.

Hazama on the other hand has a plethora of problems, mostly in his lack of a chainable overhead, his predictability in combos since they all start the same way, and his Drive (it was a snake-chain attack which pulled him across the screen), which I think they're nerfing, sadly.

On the plus side of all the changes and nerfs, Bang seems to have gone up drastically in ranks. If possible he is now more manly.

This is in the later parts of the games testing, so I can't say the changes made will be all that drastic in terms of gameplay. The new stages and moves look nice, and they've redesigned the artwork for the character selection screen--aesthetically, the game is still mad pretty. Now they just need to balance it out.

Which button do you hit for this all to make sense?

I swear to god, if you guys were in Patton's army in 1942, then World War 2 would've actually ended ON christmas.

Yeah, I'm a fighting game junkie even though I suck at em'. Can't help it. It's ingrained into my very bones, Jimmy. But who are you to talk, Mr. Greenskin? When you get on that 40k talk I tend to just nod and laugh when I hear things I recognize like "Inquisitor" or "Xenos Scum" or "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"

And yes, we would have handled WWII with ridiculous levels of precision and, dare I say it, Tactical Genius (HURRRRRR).

I would agree with you if I was still a beginner against these two characters. Most Nu players have the same freaking combo or a slight variation of it that it's so easy to predict. Nu just needs to be pressured. She's not that crazy. As for Arakune, he is annoying but he's still beatable.

They're both not untouchable. There's really nothing about them that's "broken" or "overpowered" they're both just really annoying in my opinion.

I play Tager. Have you played as Tager? I don't think you've played as Tager.

You're right, Nu crumbles under pressure in close range games. She's a bit like Akuma in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike--well, no, that's not right at all. At least Akuma took some effort to use. As for Nu vs. Tager, it's just painful. You can't pressure a long-to-mid range character whose combos consist of D, D, D, D, D, D, D, D, D, (sometimes they throw in a C if you get too close or their meter isn't full) and who constantly pushes back or keeps away with a myriad of moves well (ALL MAPPED TO D! How hard to use!). Closing the gap becomes a waiting game, and the Libra meter really isn't all that friendly. If a good Tager manages to time a Sledge or backdash near the end of one of Nu's blockstrings then they might be able to get in a magnetize. Once magnetized, Nu is a kitten, but that's if you can get close enough.

As for Arakune, well, you've probably never played a good Arakune player. See, any character is beatable. Some will take more effort than others but you can still take them down. But Arakune is like Eddie was in GGXX: AC. He does massive amounts of damage even with proration for no reason, has incredible mobility and has the added bonus of being able to FLOAT AROUND AND TELEPORT to avoid attacks. He's broken as crap, and I hope he gets nerfed to nothing in Continuum Shift.

PSN is Jadowman. I'm never on though.
