It makes me sad. ;_; There are no easy, healthy solutions for our demand for fast and efficient.

Almost anything. Healthy is the smartest thing to do, then you can go out and eat a small portion of unhealthy food and continue to live in a healthy life style.

There is no such thing as healthy fast food, its like an oxy moron. Doesn't matter if its a small portion, thats a portion of calories you COULD HAVE used for stuff filled with healthy things like vitamins and minerals.

A small portion, over a long period of time is okay, as long as its just calories. But it usually doesn't come down to that, fast food is generally not healthy, and if you are after a salad, BUY SOME LETTUCE YOU LAZY BUM. Everything else is just crap that is harder for your body to burn and use as energy, even if its just a small portion. You could use that same high calorie area to eat something GOOD for you.

Its like apples and oranges folks. Trust me, I have high metabolism, when the few and very infrequent times I eat crap food like that, it doesn't give you the needed energy.

Unless you are one of those crazies on a crab-boat burning more calories then the average person does in a week....and even then there are so many preservatives, you won't need to be embalmed...

I could make a killing on fast-health food. Like a drive through with salads and the like. A hippie paradise where the food is fresh, natural, and local and not as expensive since it's farmer's market locally grown. Only burgers available are homemade and veggie burgers. Homemade lacks the extra crap like flavoring and what not.

My dietician explained how a burger made at home is much healthier than one at any eat out place. Because they add extra junk for flavor that packs in calories.

They sure do. Fattier meat when you can buy the extra meat at home, over a traditional grill where most of what little fat IS in it will drip out. You can use your own healthier seasonings on it for flavor in the raw ground beef.

But selling it, that wouldn't really be very profitable. The good lean beef is expensive by itself.

Beats the whole point of convenience. That is the only reason people do fast food. =_=.gif That and prices maybe.

depends on what you think fast is....lol
but really, you can go to places where they serve steak and its still considered fast food because they also sell burgers and fries as a main staple

I am fairly sure those burgers are slightly more healthy than the ones in the drive through. The whole idea of a sit down restaurant is to enjoy your food and the company you're with. So naturally you take more time to eat your food and don't really shovel it in because you're in hurry.
But in fast food you're generally in a hurry and you don't take time to eat slowly and that also makes you eat more. >.>

Even though I'm posting in an old topic .Food always interests me becacuse ITS FOOD.I read the instructions(top) and never knew I could work the fast food system like that. Yo you should change your name to like the all-knowing-food sage. I'm goin to try this out but next in the line is how to get the best chicken nuggets anywhere.

Solution:

Soy

It's a fairly fast product, you could pop a soy burger in a microwave for a minute and it be out the next, and they stay hot for set periods of time. I don't think they taste much different from normal hamburgers, they are a little more expensive since they have to process the soy into something with meat flavoring.
I can't say much for fries, but if you steam cook them it's WAY healthier, doesn't really take away from the taste. I would say it's a little slower, and the machines to cook the fries are smaller and more expensive, but we're talking health wise here.

And eating fast food once or twice a week isn't going to kill you, depending on what you eat. You eat a Whopper, you're begging for the 52grams of fat that's in it. :3 You can only have 60grams a day... That's something you do avoid eating more than once in a month. But considering that, fast food like McDonald's and Burger King don't compare to the fat that is in pizza. One slice thick crust cheese at Pizza Hut is gonna cost you 22grams of fat per slice. Would you rather eat a medium fry with 20 or one slice pizza for 22?
