Uchiha, you seem to be a nice guy, maybe I can help? I came off of working on paint, GIMP, and now use photoshop CS2. I'm not sure if 6.0 is the same, but I can help with beginer's sig making. If you can contact me via msn messenger I can give you quicker help, but for now, whats your problem?

((By the way, it sounds like you need to use the magic wand tool more, to get rid of the white square backgrounds, and place the stock into a premade or new background))

The problem i am having is well trying not to brush over the stock..

OK, what you need to do, is learn what each of the tools do. Learn the name, the keyboard shortcut, and how to use it. I believe photoshop still has an inbuilt help section, so I'd advise you spend a fair amount of time in there learning as much as you can about the app. Once you've familiarised yourself with the tools and how the software works, you'll find answers will come automatically. Photoshop is a very intuitive program, so once you've acquired a reasonable amount of knowledge you'll be able to do the problem solving yourself, like I'm now able to do.

As for your problem - add more layers. It's clear which layer the stock is on, so don't brush on that layer. Simple. Blending modes (drop down menu in the layers palette (you *should* know what that is)) will allow you to blend the brushes and whatnot in various ways.

this one's a paradox. Naruto is (although most would like not to believe it...) the hero. What's one of his most famous lines? "Becoming Hokage is my dream" (something along those lines)

As useless as Naruto has been pretty recently, he still is the 'hero', so it doesn't make sense to have text like that. Even if you are trying to make a statement, there's no recognisable sarcasm. On the topic of the text, the red is very hard to read. I think the luminosity is the roughly the same value as the blue behind it, so it clashes. It would need to either be darker or lighter to work. Also, plain red isn't something I'd associate with Naruto (nor is the font selection)

So, you'd need to select a better font, drop the random capital letters (PLEASE!) and select a better colour for the typography. Once you learn more about that, you can attempt more interesting things with typography (such as leading (line spacing), using multiple fonts effectively and so on)

The stock could be better too. I notice part of Naruto's hair is cut off - which may have been due to it missing from the stock originally. In which case, you'd search for a better picture (since it's not great to begin with) or with more advanced photoshop skills, clone it back in.

Well now the only problem i have now is combing the stock with the sig, because whenever i do such it does make it so i don't brush over the stock but there is white still from the stock image in the sig, and thats the main rpoblem i am having now.

- Open new, blank file
- Add stock as new layer, keep it on the top for now
- Cut the unnecessary parts from the stock (everything except the stock itself)

For now I think you need more brushes, like fractals, abstracts, and grunges for you to try out. For now the brushes you have seem to be the only ones you have. Experiment around and try to use different colors and try out the blending modes. Stock placement is always a bit off too as well. You can always shrink the stock and make the composition a little better.

I am wondering now how to make animated Sigs???

That's called transparency, and I don't think you're ready for it yet. Why don't you just concentrate on learning basics before you move on to transparency and animation?

I have to agree there. Once you get all the basics down, then you can move onto stuff like that.

My sig for instance uses transparency, but I had to spend some time tweaking the outlines to get them smooth, just the right thickness and working on all colour backgrounds.

I think it could be a bit overwhelming and beyond your knowledge of software and file formats at this stage.

haha..i havent been here for a long bum bum time =D....and you are the first person i will be critisizing since i came back .........hmmm....add a border to all your sigs =.=...just a render of clouds and a light o.O..work on cutting ur images and not blurring em atleast..o.O..also work on blending your text..>.>...also suggest use the pen tool(my best friend :3) to cut out ur images,much smoother...=3

How do i add borders????

Part of Naruto's hair is cut off. Gotta watch out for that when putting a background behind anything, or if there is limited amount of space.
