As written on Animesuki.com:

"New Funimation "licenses"
It has come to the attention of the AnimeSuki staff that Funimation has send a Cease & Desist letter to Shinsen-Subs and a certain large anime fansub torrent site requesting them to remove Solty Rei, Tsubasa Chronicle and Black Cat. While we consider it an odd move to announce a license in this way, this news is compelling enough to mark these series as licensed in our database as a precaution."

Yea, may be old news, but I want to see what peole think of this. =]

What do you think about this? I'm pretty mad at FUNmation for this. They exercised their rights on an anime that they have not publically said that they will license. Also, couldn't they at least let the series finish running at least? Solty Rei was the anime that I was following pretty closely and its sad when FUNmation licensed it. They're pretty much going to butcher it when it comes to dubbing. Since they haven't announced when they are going to release Solty Rei and Tsubasa, it could be a year or more before you see these anime out again. Unless some subber decides to continue subbing Solty Rei. I only know of Shinsen subs that sub this anime.

Damn, I actually was going to start watching Tsubasa too...

FUNimation is being a little childish in my opinion. I mean, I'll still go out and get the DVDs eventually. But, still what does this prove?

You see no group is going to sub them anymore.Unless you plan on watching the raws?

You can still watch the episodes released so far,i.e 1-26.This new enforcement only effects future subbing, that means no more season-2 of tsubasa or any FunI involved anime.

Here`s the official letter which they had sent to shinsen-subs.
QUOTE
Funimation recently informed fansub group Shinsen-Subs, "We own or control various exclusive copyrights and trademarks related to the animated motion pictures, including but not limited to, the series known as “Speed Grapher,” “Trinity Blood,” “FullMetal Alchemist,” “Dragon Ball,” “Solty Rei” a.k.a. “Origin,” “Detective Conan” a.k.a. “Case Closed,” and “Tsubasa”." This was after Funimation had contacted the registrar for Shinsen-subs domain name, resulting in the registrar, Joker.com, freezing the domain name. Solty Rei and Tsubasa have not yet been announced for release by Funimation.

My views -: While it is a good move since, lately, a uber large group of people is relying upon fansub. However,I think there`s a drawback, since, these guys havn`t even started working upon titles such as tsubasa and the like, and also since, officials at ann say that anime such as "solty rei" may take about 18 months to hit the u.s in the form of a vol 1 dvd set.And more so,no group is going to sub these anime anymore. All this means only one thing,us fans have to suffer.Since we have to wait for about another 3 or more years to watch a series completely.
This ofcourse, undoubtedly will lead to a depression in the of fans out there.I think it would have been a better strategy to go against the fan subbing groups when they were ready with the official dubs.
