I remember i heard about it at first from a friend. An anime fighter for nintendo DS wich would feature both Guko (DBZ), Naruto (Naruto), And Luffy (OP). I got a little mixed feelings at the time since i didn´t had a DS by then and a thought the quality of the game would be low.

The next thing i heard, about a year afterwards, sent me a shock! 150 CHARACTERS FROM 27 OF SHONEN JUMP´S MOST POPULAR MANGAS EVER!! blink.gif "This sounds to good to be true!" I though, there had to be some hidden downside of it. After having read several proffesional and private reviews, all of them pracing it as the greatest anime fighter of all time, i added it at the top of my "to-get-list".

Now i have had the game for roughly 24 hours, AND I LOVE IT!! The fighting engine reminds of the one in SSBM, A is jump, B is attack, X is heavy attack and Y is special-attack. You can win by either knock-down or ring-out.

The animations aren´t as good as in the GGX games but that´s about the only 2-D fighter i know hwho beats it. All of the chrachters and enviroments are drawn in clear and cute cell-shade without losing any of the originality found in the mangas.

What is really unique about jump is that instead of using the ordinary character vs. character system it has it´s very own character-system called Koma-decks. it works this way:
After having cleared a mission in story mode, you are awarded with 1 size help characters and seriff-Komas,who has at least 1 empty frame and a quote from the caracter. The right 1-size komas must then be fitted into the Serif-koma to make it either a support-character or various degrees of battle characters. you then make your very own "deck" of komas, wich is shown as a manga-like panel at the touch screen. 1 deck must consist of at least 1 battle character, 1 support character and 1 help character. The rest is up to the players imagination.

Some of you might think that the fact that the text is all written in japanese with no voice casts (it is based on the mangas and not the animes, after all) a little trubbeling but don´t worry. Since this is a rather popular import-game there are faq´s to be found ´s around on the net that help´s you trough most ordeals concerning langages.

I'm heading off to Japan later this month, and planning to buy this game (among others)
I'm pretty sure that gameboy had no difference between PAL and NTSC as it wasn't played through a TV. Is the DS the same?

I have an Aussie DS, and I'm wondering if Japanese DS games will work on it. Anyone know for sure?

I am about 80% sure it can work on the AUS DS. I think it's like the PSP in the sense that it can play all DS games in the world.

Prince of Tennis is in it!!!! I can freaking play as Fuji!!! Woo!!!!

yay, I bought Jump! It works fine on my Aussie DS.
I just got back from a 2 month trip to Japan. Jump is pretty darn good. HEAPS to do. Easy to finish but so much to unlock after that.

To unlock characters, you need to earn their portrait as well as a certain phrase of theirs, then match the two up. There are clues as to which character the phrase belongs to, but of course it's in Japanese.

You can download play with a friend, but I think it only has default teams - so you play as Naruto, Goku, the guy from One Piece and some weird blonde haired afro guy.

I haven't unlock any PoT characters yet - haven't seen the anime anyway. I'd rate it 7/10 though. Controls are OK, and animations are great, but not much variety. Building and customising tag teams is nice, but there are restrictions.

I just thought the fighting was a little too.... simple....

I mean... at least SMash Brothers had smash attacks to add some depth to it....

These attacks are just a little to simple to me....

But I guess it the simplicty to some that makes it fun.... I just yearn for more depth in the sequel....

Also the game was short and easy....

The computers aren't even a good challenge.... even three against one at full difficulty if you have a deck with just one koma of each type (As small as you can get) against seven blocks who are strong against you....

The game really shines however if you have some friends who have this game.... Unforunatley do not have anyone like that....

did think the game was good fun while it lasted.... and I enjoyed playing as people I never knew....

I liked Gintoki the best.... my leasy favorite character was D. Grayman....

yeah allen was good, i have unlocked about 460 komas and now it´s getting hard to unlock komas since faq´s and the web-site are just helpfull to a certain degree.

My least fav. character is bobob-bo. He´s combos are lousy and his special is netither good nor do they look good.

But i love playing with sword-fighter´s. I even have an entire deck dedicated to sword-fighting. Lvl. 5 Kenshin and Zoro pwns thumbsup.gif

Do you want to know a good Zorro and sanji combo...?

Doing this can double or even triple their attacks....

Think of it like this:

Zorro's B does five damage and with this combo can raise it to 11....

Four block Sanji's Normal X does 18 damage and you can raise it to 65...

Now how to do so much damage...?

Well it's a little trick I developed....

Here how to do it....

Put the four block sanji and four block Zorro to gether with a two block like this:

Four block zorro bottom left, four block sanji middle top and put the two block Nami undr sani to give him a boost in HP...

If you did that right you should have the Zorro and Sanji blocks giving each other a boost....

Now fill the reast of it up with 1 block girl koma....

My choice's are putting Nico Robin next to Nami to give her a boost (but you wont be needing Nami to kick some serious bum bum) and various other girls next to Zorro and sanji....

Here's mine exactly:

Slam Dunk girl top left (the one with the long power), Football girl top right (the one with the long power and brown hair), Sakura bottom right (to clean stuff like poisons), healing girl from Gintama to the left of sakura ( any healing girl is fine), the mean looking girl from Gintama (for a speed boost), to the left o fthe mean girl the Football girl (one with black hair and a long power), to the left of her the Black Cat girl (with black hair), and Bulma to the left of her and the Death Note girl under Black cat girl....

Congratualtions, now all that you have to do is go into combat and use Sanji's up and X....

But what is up and X...?

Simple, up and X gives Sanji a power boost equal to how many girls are in the deck....

I'm not a big fan of fighting with sanji so I switch to Zorro afterwards and reap the benifts of Sanji's power....

Or if you really like Sanji you can make a Pimp Sanji deck and take out Zorro to give Sanji a little bit more of a boost, it's up to you....
