For most of the images that will be made in this forum, saving the image as a 24-bit PNG will result in huge filesizes that will no doubt be in clear violation of KAF rules. If you're going to save your image as a paletted image, an 8-bit PNG is recommended. An 8-bit PNG allows up to 256 colors which should be good enough hopefully. If you use Adobe Photoshop, here are instructions to save as a 8-bit PNG:
Note: Photoshop and several other programs do not store gamma information with very high compatibility and as a result, Internet Explorer may display the image's color incorrectly. The only software I know to correctly save the gamma info is Macromedia Fireworks. |

No, it's just Internet Explorer because it's messed up. This is fixed in IE7 though. |

PFFT! Grey...>>; Anyway, i always go to Save>Save As>PNG Isn't that ok? |

(not me, i hate that stuff) Save as an 8-bit PNG. --- Also: random note: the way Photoshop saves gamma for PNGs, colors of PNGs in images will look different in Internet Explorer. The only editor that I know of and have tested that saves PNGs so that they appear the same in IE is Fireworks. |
