Very nice for a 15 minute piece! I love the font, what is it? the only thing that bothers me is the pinkish streak across his face doesn't seem to blend much with him or the BG, and some of the trans. document pixels are a little too prominent over the stock. Other than that it's wonderful! Great job. smile.gif

Jesus, so out of practice. Well I'm unemployed again, which leads to boredom, which lead to me doing these two.

The first was a simple 10 minute job just to get to grips with things; cut the stock, some font and then using the pen tool to write the characters. Not interested in any C&C on that.

The second was playing around further with the pen tool. Not overly happy with the result so I'd really appreciate any C&C you can give on that perleaaaaase. :]

Edit: Just noticed I joined KAF 3 years ago today. Woo!

You UPDATED!!! Aside from you just getting back into the swing of things, I think you did a great job with the pen tooling. I'm not really liking the font/placement on the second piece, I'd just work on that a bit.

It's good to see you back!

Thanks guys! Its good to be back even if it is possibly only for a little while. I'm just gna ignore the second one since looking at it kinda annoys me heh.gif

New one and I'm stuck. I've been playing with brushing in the hope that something'll come back to me...all in vain. I have no idea where to go from here.

I love the filename. xD
I don't like the tone colorwise though... but I could be biased because I just dislike red-tones in general.... Composition is good.
I don't know what to add to it...

I don't much like red tones, but the cosplay costume is awesome so I felt it had to be done =P

Final outcome:

Couldn't really make it work; the way I'd set it up I'd screwed myself over with the composition.

totoro one looks great. The Ghibli style is very simple to begin with, and you've captured it well.

2nd one is a little hard to say. Not sure what they're from (but reminds me of Daft Punk - and I'm in a real Daft Punk mood since they put on the best performance ever at Melbourne last year biggrin.gif) It's tough to create vectors from scratch. Overall, I think it works, but the ring above the figure on the left seems to stand out a bit. Maybe see how it flows without that? Adding any more would make it too busy. I think the diagonal lines work on the left. I think the vortex shape on the far right is becoming too much of a focal point, and stealing a bit too much attention. Type is simple and effective.

For the one you were stuck on, I think the original version is better. It's cleaner and much more stylish. I think maybe instead of the soft shapes for the effects, some angular, harder edged ones might work. If you think of the visual style of the anime, the crashes and explosions are drawn in a more 'hurried' look, and are very angular. I think the transparency looks more like wind than anything else. So maybe some more colours to make it a little more psychedelic - reflect on the random nature of the series. It's too soft right now.

Considering it's a robot, and how much music played a part in the anime, I think it needs more of a punch to it.

Dan. You are an absolute genius <3 Plus, you're right it is Daft Punk (they always put on a hell of a show, seen them twice now!)
I'll have a play about with the FLCL one and see what I can come up with, but even with this help I think I'm going to come undone hmmsmiley.png

In the mean time, another quickie.

I think your Totoro sig is really cute. <3 <3 <3 I'm not quite sure on the Daft Punk one myself, the pics used don't seem to go with the rest of it, but the vectoring/pen tool looks really nice.

For the Canti one, I wasn't sure what it was when I first looked at it, I knew there was a guitar, and I thought the rest was some c4d's. I don't know what it is about that one, but it just seems to be a weird style. It doesn't register much for me.

For your other new quickie, looks pretty good for a quickie to me. xD The only thing that bugs me is the kind of disappearing on the right side, looks strange. Reminds me of Cloud Strife's outfit in Kingdom Hearts... The background is pretty cool looking on it though.

Hahahaha...

Warning: You are posting in an OLD TOPIC!

I haven't been back here for a year and a half now.
Wonderful.
Lets see how long I stick around this time, shall we?

New stuff, first time I've opened photoshop to make anything since the last few posts. Been bored since I dropped out of uni so I went back to what I (sorta) know.

Comments and criticisms and casual hellos would be nice, but I'm not expecting too much considering how quiet this place seems these days.

I like the third variation of the first, second of the second (though I can't tell the difference besides the sizes), first of the third.

The Bruce Lee sig is tight, but it's so small :/
That circle at the left seems a little out of place too...

I like your second piece the best. It's got kind of a watercolor feel to it, yellow adds some nice solidity. Good work for just coming back~

Small sigs are hotness.

So I better not.
I'll just press Add Reply and see what happens.

Ow, topis is OLD........
